20 minute city, 24/7: Then and now in Fishermans Bend and Port Melbourne
The current PORTogether project has brought together a group of local residents interested in gathering stories about memories of the past, present and future in Fishermans Bend and Port Melbourne . The stories are a response to the future development of Fishermans Bend that will see the area transformed from a significant industrial precinct to a predominantly urban landscape. The group has met weekly on a Friday morning to work on their stories. David Nicholas has facilitated the process and assisted the group to gain skills in multimedia storytelling. Each storyteller has researched their story with many spending time searching the archives at the the Port Melbourne Historical and Preservation Society. The stories contribute to the current conversation about the future of Fishermans Bend by providing local insights into what people value about this area.
The digital stories with a selection of photo stories will be showcased at two upcoming exhibitions:
Emerald Hill Heritage Centre: 29 August – 18 September.
Please join us at the opening on Wednesday 7th September 6.00pm - 7.30pm
Port Melbourne Library : 3rd October to 22nd October 2016
Please join us at the opening on Tuesday 4th October 2.30pm - 4.00pm
You can view the digital stories below. The stories and photos will be published on the main blog page.
