Australian Rules Football has always been an integral part of the Port Melbourne community, with the Port Melbourne Football Club, known as the Borough, commencing in 1874. The Borough still play within the Victorian Football League. The Port Colts (originally Middle Park Colts) commenced with a team for over 18s, back in 1957 and moved to their current home of Murphy’s Reserve in the late 1960s, with the first junior team starting in the early 1970s. There was a time when the team struggled to get enough kids for the juniors, so eventually were unable to field a team.

Early in the 2000s Port Melbourne Auskick started, by 2010 Auskick had grown to 75 children,  growing to 100 in 2012 and then the Port Colts Juniors started again in 2012, this year we are looking at 140 Auskick kids (and counting) and over 100 juniors across 5 team.

Port Melbourne has always had a strong sense of community and is growing more and more, with young families discovering what a great place we are all lucky enough to live in! Our community is being strengthened again through our Port Colts Juniors Community Football Club. With a strong focus on family values, our kids have a sense of pride and belonging within their teams, the club and the Port Melbourne community. Families are coming together, to support our kids, the club and they love watching all the kids learn and grow. We also have a strong history of girls playing for the Port Colts and they continue to join Auskick and are an integral part of each of our teams, from U8s to U12s.

You can see our teams practice on a Wednesday evening or play our home games every second Sunday on Murphy’s Reserve. Come down and join in, bring your kids, we would love to see you….
