Lagoon Reserve Community Planting Day

8/6/2018

Comments

The twelfth annual Lagoon Reserve planting day was a very PORTogether occasion.
Rain earlier in the week had softened the ground.
People from SHIP, Port Melbourne Uniting Church, Dig In and neighbours of the Reserve made short work of getting 700 plants in the ground on the eastern side of the Reserve.
Francesca, newly arrived from Chile, came from Elwood. She was eager to learn more about Australian plants.
The planting was ably supported by Damien from Citywide and Greg and Jeff from the City of Port Phillip.
People gathered around the barbecue afterwards for tea and stayed a while to explore old photographs and maps of the Lagoon.
Kind rain fell in the following week to settle the plants in.
